I have owned a Hamilton Beach Snigle-Serve Blender for three years, and it's still going strong even though I use it once or twice a day. Small powerhouse!

Let's face it, most of us just want one beverage at a time. I have a regular blender that can prep half a gallon or more -- That's fine, but I don't usually need that many servings, even though I have a large family. And if you're blending smaller amounts, the larger blenders don't work very well.

So there you have it: A small, inexensive powerhouse that really goes the distance.

Dustin T. Mitchell Said: Excellent Value ( Sep. 2nd 2010 )

I've owned this little mini blender for about 3 months now. (I bought it May 11, 2010, and now it's early September.)

I'm a [very amateur] bodybuilder, and I bought it with the intention of making protein shakes easier, and a little tastier by adding crushed ice to them.

My freezer is able to crush ice for me, but for the sake of a protein shake, the chunks are way too big. So I figured I'd buy this cheap blender, and if it broke after a few uses I wouldn't be out too much money.

After over 3 months of using it 5+ times a week (occasionally even twice a day), I didn't think such a small cheap blender would be able to handle taking crushed up ice, and grinding it down into little tiny granules over and over like that. I figured it would break by now.
I'd buy this again if it broke later today. 3 months of regular usage (and it works great during usage too) is worth the price already. Or perhaps a bigger one, but specifically aiming for this same company.

Many of my protein shakes involve adding to the blender: crushed ice and peanut butter at the same time. It's able to handle both like a charm. And it tastes great to also add a banana (which I break up for volume sake) and some protein powder. All of this gets mixed together quite well.

The only downside is that the lid has been on the verge of leaking before, with some liquid forming on top (through the sip-lid area). However, I've yet to have it make an actual mess; it stays on the lid. (Also, those times might have been my fault for putting more stuff in.)

Considering how cheap this little mini blender is, I'm surprised at how well it works, and I have no problem recommending it to friends. The only caveat is that said friends may want a bigger blender, but that's not a fault of a blender specifically advertised to be smaller.

I had a large and rather noisy smoothie maker that gave me a lot of problems; when it finally failed entirely, I bought this one. It is just the right size for a breakfast smoothie (milk, chocolate smoothie mix, and frozen strawberries), does not leak, makes much less noise, and the motor does not seem to be overtaxed by pureeing the frozen fruit. I can drink the smoothie right out of the mixing chamber, and cleanup is easy.

Emily O'Brien Said: Convenient but not great ( Aug. 10th 2010 )

This single blender is good for making smoothies for one person. Having a blender that you can drink from and not use a glass is great. But my one complaint is it does not blend the frozen fruit very well. I have tried different techniques but it just won't cut up the frozen fruit.

Hana Said: You can take it with you ( Aug. 6th 2010 )

The Hamilton Beach 51101 Single Serve blender is small, portable and easy to clean. Prior to getting this, I was using my big heavy blender which is a pain to use and clean if I just want a personal size drink. This works perfectly if you want to blend a morning protein shake for yourself, it's quick and you can take the container with you and enjoy your drink in the car. I sometimes travel for work and this blender gives me the option of a healthy blended drink for breakfast, a yogurt and fruit smoothie as a snack or a cool, refreshing dessert. My only criticism is that it's a little underpowered so it doesn't completely blend pieces of fruit or ice but the trade off is the convenience of a small unit.
